[sims] An agent is already installed on this machine - how to remove ?

I've renamed the sims.ini and both folders on the target machine but still no luck ?

It's saying an unknown agent exists on the machine, this must be manually uninstalled - there's no uninstaller ?

(yes i'm a greenhorn to sims...)

If its the Solus 3 agent you mean then it can be removed via the Control Panel in the add/remove programs section.

Sorry to hijack this but have a similar issue here today.

 

Just rebuilt a computer so it's had a clean sweep.

 

Added to Solus but fails to install the agent as it's already installed... but it isn't anymore because it's been overwritten. There's nothing to be uninstalled!

 

How do I get around this situation?

You can remove it from the console - not uninstall - then re-add it to the console. It'll reinstall then.

He's right, just remove it from the environment and add it in again. Failing that you could try renaming the computer, as I take it you used the same machine name?

I find that Solus 3 is very picky about DNS and if you change anything you need to confirm that you can ping your target machine from the SIMS server.

 

You may want to check that the host name of your target PC match the IP address in your DNS and then do an ipconfig/flushdns on the SIMS server before trying to push out the agent again.
