mats Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Anybody else had intermittent easymail all day? Latest from RM is "We believe we will have completed the resolution work by tomorrow morning." at 1604. I'm not holding out much hope. Note to self: hurry up and move to a different service.
LucyJT1 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Same here They told me at 2pm it would be another hour. I told staff to hope for a fix by morning. Driving me insane. Anyone have any recommendations as to what we can migrate too and keep our email addresses the same pls? We are a small primary school in Surrey. Ta.

All email address can be the same and all emails can be migrated rather easily so nothing is lost.
elsiegee40 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) This having happened a couple of years back... and it was down for a few days... we dumped it for Google Apps for Education. EasyMail is not great and it's not free unlike Office 365 and Google Apps. I appreciate that it's not a decision that you can make instantly, but it is something to consider. LucyJT1 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Thanks guys, being such a small school and me being the only IT bod, decisions can be as rapid as I want them to be! Just need to get through my massive to-do list first.

Fortunately "free" is a popular decision with school management, especially in small schools, so most are willing to let you spend some time on it.
supawat1 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Yep, it will not take you long to setup Office 365. Never had any downtimes so far, never had to pay
elsiegee40 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I love the System Status on RM's site.. I still have the link, it's sad. First thing - it's broken. We're investigating 11am - it's fixed 12:45 - maybe it isn't 16:15 - we are trying to get it back for tomorrow morning I paraphrase, but they're sweating it in their data centre this evening!
LucyJT1 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Coming into education from the world of business, I can't believe what poor quality solution providers and support offer. No-one at school expects anything to work and when it does, it's a bonus. Not a culture I'm used to!

Did you assume they're working overnight on it?! Or are they?
speckytecky Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Sorry to hear this. On the other hand so glad we took the plunge and with megga assistance from C.P. Ltd - in particular Andy Radcliffe we migrated to O365 over the summer. Highly recommended for any school thinking of taking the plunge. Support from C.P. Ltd exceptional. Highly recommended.
LucyJT1 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 We're with 4S. Am contemplating giving it a go myself. Will mull it over....
LucyJT1 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Well it got fixed eventually. All staff now want rid of it. Yay!
witch Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Yep, it will not take you long to setup Office 365. Never had any downtimes so far, never had to pay Ha ha ha Due to issues with 15 email accounts it took me THREE MONTHS to migrate!! It was hell but now it is done, all is well If you are going to do it - needs to be done quick because easymail are going to implement a password change which will screw up the csv file you have to make with everyone's account details and passwords. My other school has asked - Office 365 or Google? Thoughts? My easymail didn't go offline at all - aren't I lucky! Edited October 7, 2014 by witch
LucyJT1 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Yes, I read your thread witch. Not filling me with joy so will see how extortionate a quote our support give us to do it.
snagrat Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Yes, I read your thread witch. Not filling me with joy so will see how extortionate a quote our support give us to do it. Shouldn't cost you more than £300 really.
speckytecky Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Worth getting a quote from C.P. Ltd or Cloudle as they seem to be turning into. Can't recommend them highly enough. Their expertise of Andy Radcliffe is second to none and they didn't break the bank either. Yes, I read your thread witch. witch Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 TBH most of the issues were with the easymail side rather than the Office 365 side - once I had got over that it wasn't too difficult. I am happy to offer any help I can.
