Zoom7000 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I have very poor signal with the 3 network at work. They offer a device called the 3 signal box which they sent out to me and it works flawlessly at home. However, at work, it seems to be blocked by the LGFL firewall. I've asked Atomwide and they are happy to open the required ports but they need a destination address. I called 3 but they won't give me the destination address, instead telling me to open my firewall (Something I can't do anyway!) All they gave me was the ports I needed to open: TCP - 80, 443 UDP - 53 NTP - 123 ISAKMP - 500 ESP - 4500 My question is, is it possible to find out where the box is trying to get to? I tried installing Wireshark at home and at work and isolating the IP address of the box, but I just got lost in the results it spewed out!

You need to use filters/expressions to to drill down the results to find what you are looking for just google them there are loads out there. Is there a software element to this device? Maybe your software firewall can display the active connections the software is making.
jonathon28 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I also have one of these. I know they say you're not supposed to use them at other addresses than your own. However my signal at work is really poor. I haven't tried it at work yet. May be worth a try.

The trouble with this is that the device does not have a user or web interface and I don't know where it is going to. I would need to do a scan from the devices IP to be able to find out where it is going. tracert would only look at the local NIC on the PC. If I am thinking correctly!
Oaktech Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 i may have misunderstood, my other thought would be to plug it, in isolation, into a laptop, download cane and abel and then do a network discovery and see what it picks up...
Zoom7000 Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 I've not had a chance to test with Cain & Abel, but from the other forum, I got told that the ranges I need to unblock are: Unblock Ports: TCP - 80, 443 UDP - 53 NTP - 123 ISAKMP - 500 ESP - 4500 IP Ranges: 92.40.0.0/16 188.28.0.0/15 I got the 92.40.0.0/16 range from my IP address on my iPhone, but I think the 188.28.0.0/15 range is from internal information from 3
