What do you have in school reception. At present we have a TV which links to our school website blog etc. Had a one lan system but it got old and become full time maintenance.

What do you all have in reception. I'm thinking...... Geeky.... Awesome..... Gimmicky.

Thanks

We keep it low tech, with a large monitor, pc hidden In roof on the LAN, Vnc, a PowerPoint on loop and auto start, and timer plug to switch them both off and on.

We also have 3 other displays around school connected to some fee signage app, on the content pages we put qr codes to send people to our school web site / services pages - works pretty nice I think.

One of these freestanding-lcd.jpg which we use to display text messages and jpg posters. The receptionists do the text messages (you can key them into the system) but I do the posters as converting an M$ Office file to a jpg is beyond them.

We use Xibo to link all the TV screens.

Soon all our TVs will have a wall mounted PC which is nice spec, last and look tidy instead of cables every where. I don't like a laptop sitting on the side, I hate cables hanging. If it doesn't look good enough for reception it doesn't look good enough for a classroom I say.

We have a 42" wall mounted TV running either videos or photos on a loop or notices when needed. We have a 50" touch screen tv on a trolley which has come out of our nursery ( because they now have a new wallmounted one) and one of the staff has suggested putting it into reception for visitors to use to sign into the school electronically. I'm all for electronic sign in but i can just imagine visitors typing their name and car reg.. etc into a 50" tv screen.
