I got the same email for my DC and File server, a few weeks ago. I just went back to the supplier who sold me the servers in the first place and extended the warranty through them. They were cheaper than carepack.

We've always had great customer service from everyone I've had contact with at Very but particularly Colin. We have several Broadleaf ones in school now and, like others have said, they bent over backwards to get everything the way we wanted, the machines look brilliant and perform with out any problems what so ever.

I'ved email this morning and yesterday afternoon. The iPads I'm trying to browse the appstore on are a mixture of IOS7 and IOS8 and neither work.

We've had this problem numerous times with YHGfL. Last time it happened it was off for over a week, if memory serves. Yeah, we are the same though, can browse appstore but can't download. not good when I have 90 ipads here which need apps putting on and I can't.. not good.

We are a primary school with 800 kids. The servers are in a rack in my office. The room is 6ft by 15ft with big windows at one side. No aircon and I have 2 UPS, 4 Servers and 2 switches plus my desk with laptop and PC and my benching with various PCs running usually all the time and it doesn't get too hot. It does mean I have turned the radiator off because I never need that one in the winter as it keeps it a nice temp.

We have a 42" wall mounted TV running either videos or photos on a loop or notices when needed. We have a 50" touch screen tv on a trolley which has come out of our nursery ( because they now have a new wallmounted one) and one of the staff has suggested putting it into reception for visitors to use to sign into the school electronically. I'm all for electronic sign in but i can just imagine visitors typing their name and car reg.. etc into a 50" tv screen.

Have a look at Meraki. It's a web based MDM solution. It will work great for the small amount of ipads you have. You can set them up, lock them down ( as much as apple allows ) and deploy both free and paid apps to them. It's much better than doing everything one by one. If you start to get more and more I, personally, would switch to Lightspeed. We have 135 iPads now, some for staff and the rest for students. Meraki was starting to creak a little with that many, but that may just be my experience of it. Lightspeed is brilliant, upto now, but it does cost. Around £4 per device.

Very PC have supplied us with apple products before and have always been really good.

I like the ability to stream something to apple tv without having to connect to the same wireless network. That's good for visitors we have in school who always seem to want to connect their ipads to the projectors, lately. Although admittedly it requires the visitors to have updated their devices which in most cases is doubtful.

I'm just about to do the same thing. We have a credit card but the Business Manager doesn't want us to use it. You can use purchase orders. You purchase so much VPP credit which goes onto your account. You are then invoiced for that credit in the same way you would be from other suppliers. You do have to ring Apple to set an account up though. I'm hoping to ring today, with Business Manager at my side for any finance questions. Just depends if I get time to do it today.

Go to MDM > Add Devices and scroll down. Half way down there is a link to the config file you need to download. That's how I did it.

I initially put it on my Mac Mini, in my office. Works brilliantly and I have to say, a great improvement. I then decided to put it on my 2009 Macbook and it's flying. So much quicker than it was with Mountain Lion.

I went through it and thought I'd done really well " Ahh.. this is easy!" ... yeah.. 51 !! my eyes are obviously worse than I thought

I've just turned 30 this year. I never felt old at all, still felt like a 16 year old, until I came to work at a primary school. Working around such young children makes me feel very old indeed.

I'm using Reeder on my mac. Works quite well in that it's simple to use and updates as often as I choose. I tend to read these feeds between doing jobs for just a couple of minutes at a time, throughout the day, so I want the interface to be as simple as possible.

its like all machines, depends on the spec but I would have said yes certainly. Mine is a core i7, 4gb RAM and 1Tb storage. I have three or four instances of Chrome open, all with 5- 10 tabs open at once. RSS reader, Evernote, multiple RDP connections open, office apps open and sometimes even a VM running at the same time and it runs flawlessly.

You can join it to the windows domain if you ever chose to. It's just I choose not to. I didn't want to make it sound like you couldn't if you did ever want to. I love using my mac mini. I was like you, it seemed like such a shame to pay for one and it only be used every now and again. Also to then buy another machine for me was just daft. I should probably also add that mine is a Mountain Lion Server too. We want to use some of the other features of the mac server so I plumped for the mac mini server version. You can still use it as a workstation too. However only buy that if you are going to use the other features of the server.

I use a Mac Mini as my work machine. For the exact same reason. We needed one to sync and manage the ipads and I needed a desktop machine at the same time. I don't join mine to the domain. It runs as a standalone machine with drives mapped in, printers installed. I use remote desktop to access my servers, we have Office for mac as part of our agreement, everything else I use works fine. I haven't joined my mac mini to the domain because I always prefer my machine to be standalone, even if it was a windows one.

+1 for MinecraftEdu. We use it here. We have started with just a handful of kids to see what they can do but we're going to start clubs up soon. With minecraft Edu you can control what the kids do whilst they are in the world. You can set up activities etc..
