What do you show on signage

I have xibo running in school but was just wondering what kind of content do people show on their digital signage systems, looking for ideas

We put up information on new clubs, what week of the timetable it is, whether we are about to close for snow, sometimes we just have bbc news playing if there's no notices to display. Occasionally the headmaster requests to have an informative video to be played on them.

We don't have anyone in charge of them so we just pop things on them whenever someone requests something.

We have up a news ticker from Newsround's RSS, some videos of school events (photostories, edited highlights of productions, etc) interspersed with information where required, then we also use the MetOffice Web Widget to display the local forecast - something the staff have found quite useful and is the main reason for complaint if the screen isn't working / getting updated.

We're just entering the world of Xibo - currently we have photos of kids on cycle, BBC news RSS and a notice area (general school notices and announcement powerpoint). Our head has mentioned getting the BBC news playing (as in video stream), has anyone done this?

Main reception has a promo video running, elsewhere it's mainly promoting some of our twitter accounts and anything that any of the faculties actually bother to send through, like words of the week etc.

 

So yeah, very little when you consider the cost of the setup.

Is that not the case with the majority of tech in schools

We have 2 setups - 1 shows the canteen menu and healthy eating advice outside our canteen. The other (displayed on 3 screens around the site) displays a rolling news panel of school news for the day/week, photos of kids, our awards/logos, and our canteen menu (the screens are cut into 4).

 

I am, however, thinking of doing a new layout soon.

We have our green roof webcams, weekly calendar for clubs and groups, info for parents, a clock and the weather. We also have photos form recent events/trips displayed when needed. In the IT/Buildings office we have a separate layout that includes how many open tickets there are on the helpdesk for each department.

College promo video with a key message on an overlay (e.g. instructions for reception) plus a news ticker along the bottom. At regular intervals that switches to a key announcement \ college event advertisement \ student information. Also does live TV in our student recreational areas.
