Apple iPhone 6 Plus owners complain that their handsets are 'bending'

What sort of trousers are these people wearing for the phone to bend while in their pocket?

Surely the solution is to wear baggier trousers?

Or be a woman. Apart from jeans, our trousers usually lack pockets :)

That said, I don't rate it's survival chances at the bottom of the average handbag

I guess it's inevitable we'd start seeing issues given phones have now pretty much reached the point where the no longer really fit neatly in a front pocket. I mean, seriously, how are you supposed to carry an iPhone plus yet still preserve the clean lines of your skin tight hipster jeans whilst sitting down for a flat white coffee?

On a serious note though Apple really should have engineered enough strength into the shell of the phone to prevent it flexing quite so easily.

LOL

That's awesome! I'm guessing this might not turn out to be that big a deal but after the Antennae-gate farce with the iPhone 4 I think the moral of the story is never buy a new phone on the week of release.

As much as watching an Apple fan boys try to defend the latest waste of cash tickles me - I did read an article (on TechRadar I think) that the phones were bending but it took a fair amount of force. I think it was mainly *Ahem* folk of the larger variety putting them in the back pockets and sitting on them that was blamed. By making the phone lighter and aluminium framed they cant take the abuse of other handsets hence the bend.

Still I would never spend that much on Itoy any way - with or without the new patented "body moulding feature" :troll:

does make you wonder what happened to apples testing department. You would think that a company selling things on quality would actually try using its product and notice that it deforms and that an update disables wireless/phone its not like these are the sort of fault that manifests itself under odd circumstances. Its like the designed in California written on all their stuff how many people actually read/assume that's made in California it almost deceptive while being factually hard to substantiate esp as I bet a lot of the hardware is off the shelf bits

Glad I have the 5S still in contract as think for the amount of money you have to pay for an iOS Device they should really be using better thicker & stronger materials for making there phones / tablets etc

See what the 6S is like

Software is a meh issue though, as much as I dislike Apple, there's a lot more to go wrong with software than hardware. OK, it might not kill you (although it was a firmware bug that nearly killed people with exploding batteries) but bad hardware design is something that often comes from a typical form over function setup.

For instance, how many of us here raise a smirk when Capita re-re-re-release SIMS updates? ;)

I read some technology expert saying

Even the most recent smartphones are not designed to be put in trouser pockets - front or back - where they are going to be under the most chassis strain. And this just illustrates the fact that the public's desire for manufacturers to strive for ever thinner and lighter devices means that we are getting ever more fragile devices.

"Just casually sticking a £700 smartphone in your pocket is an increasingly reckless thing to do.

Brb, just gonna buy one of these, since mobiles being you know....mobile is yesterdays technology.

I read some technology expert saying something absurd like "smartphones today aren't designed to be carried around in your pocket, so it's no surprise the new phone bends"

where else would you carry it? I don't tend to carry a bag round with me and while I wouldn't put anything in my back pocket coat/trouser pockets are all I have to carry a phone in short of keeping it permanently in my hand. I suppose you could design a shoe with a phone compartment in the sole lol

I heard you need to buy Apple's Official Carry case for it...

This also is now too big to fit in your pocket and so it should be, what on earth do you people think your doing putting a phone in your pocket, that is NOT what they're designed for. Also please note they also can't be pressed against your ear with too much force...

Actually y'know what sell the thing and buy a better phone.
