Strange network access issue

We've a couple of Lenovo machines which seem to have stopped communicating with any external IP addresses (can't even ping them, although accessing our local netowrk is fine).

 

* We've removed and re-added the network device

* We've reset the TCP/IP stack

* We've reset the winsock catalog

* We've turned off the windows firewall

* The machines are DHCP, the same as every other machine in the building

* The route tables all look correct

* I've run virus and malware scans

 

One of the machines had only been out of the box for a few minutes and was still being setup (following imaging it)

The other machine is in an office and is used.

 

I'm at a loss what is causing this - can anyone help?

No proxy set or needed.

What happens when configured as static instead of DHCP?

Bad nic drivers? Try a stock lenovo image instead of your custom one to test. We have a batch of lenovos that if the bios is updated will not respond to imaging (no network access)

Can you ping the default gateway? Can you ping stuff that is past your default gateway but not at the firewall, for example computers in other VLANS.

 

Proxy set and correct?

 

FYI the proxy will not proxy ICMP traffic. He can't ping stuff so it wouldn't be that

If they have Access Connections I would say un-install Access Connections and then do the same as what you did above aside from ensure you are removing and re-installing the latest NIC drivers and what ever you do, DO NOT re-install Access Connections !!

 

Then try the suggestions above regards to pinging the default gateway , use a few web browsers ie firefox / chrome to confirm if its IE or not etc
