Shadow_Walker Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 A staff member has bought her home laptop in which has been blue screening. After going into safe mode and running malwarebytes and removing over 100 viruses i rebooted the machine. It blue screened again and now it hangs on loading windows files when trying to enter safe mode. The blue screen error message is bad_pool_header and the error code is 0x00000019 Any other ideas before i wipe it and start again. Thanks
elsiegee40 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 You are kinder than me. Wipe and start again is the only sensible option.
cpjitservices Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Agreed. @elsiegee40 However the user may have stuff on there they dont want to loose, Have you tried a repair of the OS using the Windows Disk ??
Joanne Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Yeah when you boot up with a disc, get onto a command prompt. Run chkdsk and fixboot.
AlexB Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Extract HDD, put in dock, take an image. Then think about working on it. That way, if it all goes wrong, you can restore it to the state when it arrived.
witch Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 If you can't get to a command prompt, take out the hard drive and hang it off another computer - I find that often I can get into it then to run chkdsk etc and get data off if necessary
