mitchell1981 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Hi, I have a couple of questions about Impero that I hope someone can give me some advice on. I used Impero in my previous job, and thought it was great, but in my new school the setup is very different. We have a lot of Citrix thin clients, and the students all have iPads. 1) Does Impero work ok with Citrix based thin clients? Is it more tricky to set up groups based on rooms if you don't know which virtual machine you might get from the server? 2) Is there any way to monitor iPad use? I know you can monitor FROM an iPad, but can you monitor the student iPads. I realise this is tricky because the students aren't logged in. Thanks very much.
Millgate Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Hey Mitchell, We're an Impero Reseller so I'll find out for you. Perhaps @russdev could shed some light on it? Luke
russdev Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Hey Mitchell, We're an Impero Reseller so I'll find out for you. Perhaps @russdev could shed some light on it? Luke Over citrix shouldn't have any major issue as can group based on various properties including server host names but also will have name of device that the session is running on as well. So will look like devicename > Server Hostname . This means should be plenty of ways to group it. The Ipad currently the app does not manager the device. In these situations if want to make sure it works ok for you I always suggest getting the trial to try it out on your system. Russell
Love_Sausage Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Heads up for anyone who hasn't upgraded recently, I only just noticed that 4.1.26 is out as of last month.
CyberDrac Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Looking through the notes, there are a few things that might suggest that there is a working Mac console now, is that the case as I can't find any mention of it anywhere else, or are the "Mac" entries only referring to a PC console viewing a Mac client?

If I may reply to the OP since the questions relate to impero. 1. Yes, impero fully supports Citrix and you can make groups based on the thin client device name so you can still group them into physical rooms. 2. As of Wednesday 1st October, you can monitor remote screen of iPad in real-time from same impero console. If your students all use ipads and Citrix, just install the client to the Citrix server and it will monitor them fine. Hope that helps and answers the questions.
Edu-IT Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Will the Impero iPad update be something that has to be requested or will it be available to all immediately?
jon-senso Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 @Edu-IT it will be available to everyone but it will only work with the most recent Impero Server released at the same time. HTH
Edu-IT Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Is there a way to express interest so the update is made available to sites on release? Perhaps through the helpdesk?
russdev Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Hi It should go into open beta on Wednesday if want open beta version PM me and will make sure that someone contacts when upgrade is ready etc. Russell
