[sims] Deleting student record for ex-pupil who is now a teacher

We've recently gone through an exercise of deleting students who left several years ago and have managed to get rid of a lot of extraneous records. However, we cannot remove the student record for former student who is now a teacher at the school.

 

Has anyone any idea how we can do this / should we be doing this?

Just to check, Why are you deleting former student records? - Have you kept all your SEN students at least - and those who have ever applied - but turned down for SEN, or those with CP issues?

So long as you are complying with other rules about the retention of records meeting the criteria (mostly SEN and CP).

 

It is likely that you are using the same physical record for staff as the student, when the staff member was added to SIMS a role was applied to the previous record rather than creating a whole new record. A perfectly valid action of the system.

 

If you want to get rid of the student portion, you wold need to create a new staff record.

 

Whether it is the same physical record or a role linking 2 records I don't know, but once applied you are using the one and same for all intent and purpose.

Yes, you are quite right that we are using the same record for both pupil and teacher; but we were for a couple of others too and their pupil records deleted just fine

 

 

Anyhow, I'd forgotten all about it since last week, now my OCD will start playing up again
