Dos_Box Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 We have an ISP based in the office buildings here in Preston where all of the EduGeek 'real' stuff lives and they have just placed this in the central recreation\cafe area asking if anyone would be intersted in buying one. No prices yet, but it's been left running MAME and a whole raft of emulators whilst quietly calling out to all of the geeks in the ofther offices around here. As you can see, apart from the case all it has is a RaspberryPi inside and a cheap monitor - with stand! - secured inside. My wife would kill me.
tmcd35 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'll tell you what - for the right price I'd snap one up!
X-13 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Those legit ex-arcade parts? Ask them where they got them... I got the urge to make a fightstick.
danbuntu Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 soooo coool There are a whole of self build projects on the web for this type of thing but for the right price I buy a built one like that.
danbuntu Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 looks like some of the build notes for it are here: Shea Silverman's Blog
d0pefish Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 i assume even stuff like the player one and player two buttons work? i'll echo others, how much would they be looking at?
Sdrawkcab Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I wonder what the licensing laws are around running MAME roms you don't own the corresponding boards for in something like this
tmcd35 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I wonder what the licensing laws are around running MAME roms you don't own the corresponding boards for in something like this Same as the licensing law for running MAME roms you do own the corresponding boards for - unless you extract the contents of the roms yourself and that rom extractions involves no reverse engineering or subverting in built security measures... I'd expect it not to come supplied with roms.
Dos_Box Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 i assume even stuff like the player one and player two buttons work? i'll echo others, how much would they be looking at? All buttons work. It's awesome!
ChrisH Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Those legit ex-arcade parts? Ask them where they got them... I got the urge to make a fightstick. There are plenty of places where you can buy the genuine parts. I built a a full size cabinet a couple of years back but had to dismantle it eventually to get another motorbike in the garage I still think about making a slimline version. I got a lot of info from Build Your Own Arcade Controls Forum - Index .
d0pefish Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 All buttons work. It's awesome! get me a price dammit
