Education Desktop with Core CALs, but dont use cals - Worth it on EES??

I have a friend who works at a school that has licensed the Education Desktop with Core CALS for the last 2 years. Its near renewal time and I'm wondering if it could be done cheaper.

 

Currently they license 20 Education Desktop with Core cal's and use

 

Windows Upgrade

Office including the buy at home option

Forefront protection

Office 365 for email

Windows CAL

 

Is it possible to license just

Windows upgrade

Office including buy at home option

Windows CAL

Forefront Protection

 

on EES and therefor save the school money.
