I have a friend who works at a school that has licensed the Education Desktop with Core CALS for the last 2 years. Its near renewal time and I'm wondering if it could be done cheaper. Currently they license 20 Education Desktop with Core cal's and use Windows Upgrade Office including the buy at home option Forefront protection Office 365 for email Windows CAL Is it possible to license just Windows upgrade Office including buy at home option Windows CAL Forefront Protection on EES and therefor save the school money. Thanks in advance for any help.

I asked our Information Management Unit about this after finding this on a website. Google Apps, EU / UK Data Privacy laws, and Charities They replied to say this is enough for me to evaluate using it in schools. hope this helps Ian

I was in a meeting with representatives from around 20 schools the other day and they were asking the exact same question. Even the ones that were heavily behind VLE's and using it well were really questioning its need, simply due to its cost. I'm not a teacher but I'm not sure they need a VLE, would a free storage area, blog and the use of various free resources not be enough especially in the current climate?

On the 30th of September Bolton council employees received their job evaluation letters. Hello We are currently looking into Uniservity integration into SharePoint 2007. I believe Uniservity are working on full SharePoint integration but don't anticipate a solution this year. In the mean time we are looking a temporary solution to try and manually integrate it. Has anyone heard anything about Uniservity integrating into SharePoint and/or done it manually. cheers Ian
