[ipad] Broken Ipad screen

Hello

 

Having had 9 ipads in our small school for 18 months without incident 2 get broken screens within a week.

 

What do all you edugeekers recommend for replacement , should I try myself or leave it to the professionals. And what would I expect to pay for screen replacement if done by the pros ?

 

Any advice gratefully received.

When a staff member dropped hers, we took it to Timpsons. They said it would take a week and cost £100, and it did. Convenience was a bit factor in choosing them.

I replaced my first last week, very easy to do with the correct kit. Patience and a hot air station.

Seconded! They did a screen replacement for us and did a perfect job.

We buy the parts (from the 'states), and do it all in-house with a hot air-gun and some microwavable heat packs.

I do my own, have done 5 now and got it down to about 15 minutes. Use a hair dryer and chisel knife. Get the screens from Charter Office Suppliers.

sorry to bring this tread back to life,

the wife has just cracked her screen on a iPad 3

willing to do the repair myself but need to find a screen,

looked on amazon but theres a lot of dodgy ones,

would prefer to deal with a company that wont give me crap hardware

Never replaced one yet.

 

Apple charge about £200, independant companies around £100 or you can buy a replacement screen on Amazon and DIY with a heat gun/hair dryer. There's some videos on YouTube.
