Adobe Creative Cloud, Windows 7 and CC4

Hi

 

I work in a school that is about to go 11-16 and we're looking to purchase Adobe Creative Cloud. We have an RM network and have just upgraded to CC4 and Windows 7. I've had a look on the RM forums and everyone seems to post about what a nightmare it is to install Adobe products. I'm rather confused by all the different versions of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud too, do I go for a VIP, EEA, or ETLA? Ideally we'd like a yearly subscription that will allow us to update to the latest version and initially we only need to use Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver.

 

I'm not a massive techie and have previously relied on RM Application Wizard to install software, which has now been withdrawn on CC4.5. The Adobe website is not the easiest to get information from but I'm trying to wade through it all. If anyone can offer advice on the following I'd be most grateful:

 

1. Has anyone installed Adobe Creative Cloud on a Windows 7 CC4 network, how hard was it?

 

2. Will the Adobe Creative Cloud packager work on a CC4 network?

 

3. What deployment tools do you use?

 

4. What Adobe reseller do you use?

 

Any other useful info would be great too!

Hi,

 

We are using Adobe CC2014 on an RM CC4.5 network.

 

First we packaged each application using the adobe package manager. This downloads the software with updates then serializes and packages them as msi.

 

We then imported the packages created into RMMC asif they were a CC3 msi.

 

Then just deploy to your machines as needed (the machines will need to be build onto windows 7 64bit.

 

The only two apps that I am having trouble with are Acrobat Pro and Lightroom.

 

I am also looking into packaging the Elements versions of photoshop and premiere although there is no package manager for these.

You could package the whole suite into one huge package but I didn't fancy the idea of deploying a 15GB package to over 60 machines.

Hi Darren, thanks for your reply. Did you have any issues with the install and allocation of Photoshop? We've managed to download, install and allocate all the other programs but Photoshop will only run on an admin user, or teacher when the computer security is set to none. When a student tries to use Photoshop it opens the program but then crashes. RM are not offering any solutions and just keep giving us useless tasks to do. On a couple of machines it also brings up a login screen. Any help would be really appreciated because we're being hounded by staff. Thanks, Tracey

I've distributed CC to about 150 machines.

 

I'm getting an error 16 with acrobat. I've tried the SLStore and Adobe PCD folders described in Configuration error 16 | CC, CS

 

Haven't tried Lightroom. Any ideas? I'm pretty lost with the ProcMon trace I have

We have had a swathe of issues with CC2014, including error 16 on opening any Adobe CC application.

 

The only way i've got it to work is to give the users permission to write to the adobe folder in Program Data. There is another SL folder that users will need write access too on window x64 its here (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache)

 

Once everyone has permissions for those folders it should work a treat. We've got it deployed to around 100 machines here and have had no problems since we made the changes.

Who did you put in the permissions for reading?

 

I've tried all but special permissions for Domain Users and still have the issue

I gave 'Everyone' modify permissions to the folders mentioned previously.

 

 

We run RM CC4.5 so although they gain access to the folders on the C: drive they cannot see or navigate to the C: so there are no real security issues.

Glad you got it working. I had issues using Domain Users and our students group so I tried Everyone and it worked. It comes down to stupidly written software I think.

sorry to dig up an old thread but Im having this issue and changing the folder permissions hasnt done anything to resolve the problem for me. what process did you guys use to get past this?
