IT_Ninja Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 So I've got a new Dell 9020 MT which is sweet but I'm in need of a graphics card. I've got a dual monitor setup and a budget of about £100 - could swing more if it's a good deal. Ideally more than one HDMI or DVi would be great or looking towards a DMS-59 port. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated, I quite like the GTX760 but it's a bit pricey.

It doesn't have to be gaming card but it needs to be able to handle media/ graphics processing. It's mainly used for general working but I do run multimedia applications that can push it. Something that can handle two/ three monitors and multiple applications on multiple displays - if I'm making any sense

It's not a powerhouse, but it's an efficient card capable of handling gaming, multimedia and CUDA applications while sipping power and staying pretty cool. mcrabb Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 What is the power output for your PSU? Could be a bottleneck for the more power-hungry cards.
3s-gtech Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The 9020 has a Q87 board which has a PCI-e 2.0 slot - 75W capable which is enough alone for most 750Ti cards without a six pin connector. However, The PSU is 200W - possibly pushing it a bit!
IT_Ninja Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Thanks for all the responses. The 750 looks good but may be able to kick the budget higher to the £150 mark with permission and budget. Also trying to avoid VGA ... prefereably DM-59 or HDMI/ DVI
3s-gtech Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The 750Ti linked has DVI and HDMI, (VGA is there but you don't need to use it). You'll struggle to find anything with DM-59 unless you look at certain workstation cards, often low-profile ones. £150 leaves you with the GTX660 (getting on now but decent) or an R9 270X (a decent rebrand of the HD7870). Again, and it's important - consider your PSU here. Your current PSU will not run a GTX660 or R9 270X, and Dell PSUs are not always easy to upgrade.
L3OUGH Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I HIGHLY recommend the GTX760 if you can afford/use it with your current hardware!! Never had any issues with it. I run 2 monitors, PC is mainly for gaming but I also work remotely from it too. Absolutely awesome card!

IT_Ninja Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Just checked and I'm restricted by my argh PSU. It's a standard Dell PSU 290Watts and no real additional power connecters (unless an extra cable from the mobo?)

I might go and cry for a bit If you had enough money you could get a thunderbolt II ex asus card, a thunderbolt II enclosure plus psu and a gpu and do it that way but that would cost a bit !!! You can piggy-back a second PSU onto the green switching wire from the first PSU using a relay or similar. That way, you'll get a nice dedicated PSU for your graphics card (bit of a bodge, but will work)! Got any ATX PSUs kicking about you can test fit? 1
