Help!! Projector Mounting Problem

One of my schools has (quite rightly) decided that with projectors now being cheaper to buy than the lamps for older models it makes more sense to replace the projector. However, this plan only works if the new model fits the old mount!! :oops:

 

So, as a result of a bit of a mistake, I am now desperately seeking a spare bit for a Medium Universal Projector Mount - like the one here: http://www.medium.co.uk/public/APP.ASP?PT=POP&PG=PD&EK=380&VW=0#

 

The bit we need is one of the little metal supporting bars (loopy bit) that you can see sticking out of the round pressure plate at the bottom in the above picture. I have also attached a hopeless drawing I made of the part to this post!

 

 

If anyone has any ideas where we might be able to get hold of something like this, or perhaps has one in a junk pile they wouldn't mind letting me have, you would really be saving my bacon!

Sorry, forgot to mention that we have been in touch with the suppliers and they can't supply the part on its own and say we would have to buy a whole new bracket at over £125!

We have 6th formers and a DT department for making spare bits.

Yeah, we'd get the D&T Techs in our place to make something like that, or one of the caretakers. Is there no-one in your place who could fabricate something for you? Or a parent?

I have these but I think they are from a unisol bracket.

 

If you paid the postage you could have the whole thing.

Hmm. how many supporting arms do you have left? If I recall there are several on them universal ones - I'm sure it won't miss one

Well, I have an update on this: after much pushing, shoving and head scratching, I managed to get it safely into the bracket with just the two remaining arms. Why I couldn't get it in early, I don't know, but I'm just pleased its in there now! Job saved for another day!

Something tells me there's a market here for some enterprising 6th formers..

dont for get when doing things like this not all projectors have the same throw distance, older ones especially tend to have alot longer throw that newer models, this means remounting and possible replaceing brackets, and av looms,(not really a problem with a suspended ceiling but will be on solid)

 

just something for you to take into consideration when replacing projectors
