Whilst creating new policies on which I started on Server 08 but now continuing on 12, I have successfully got a mandatory profile running, and I have set up 'Mapped Drives' in my GPO settings. However when I log on as one of these users using the profile it will not load properly every time. At first it wouldn't load the mapped drive every other login, and now it won't load it every one in three logins. If I convert the profile back to .dat, it works fine, .man, alternate fail. This problem was happening before I had a 2012 server running.

Any thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Good suggestion. I believe this could is the relevant entry to the matter.

"Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon because the group policy logon optimization is in effect."

and possibly this:

"The user 'Attributes' preference item in the 'WIN7 User Pupil {6FF3D747-1697-46D3-B935-FDFDE32784F1}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed."

Not mapped drives, but I have had a similar problem with GP logon scripts, really could not get them to run on a mandatory profile.

Could be permissions in the user hive of registry, they can go weird on mandatory profiles. Try taking control of, and giving the user/group full control of the whole HKEY_CURRENT_USER key. That will ensure GP has the permissions to put the new mapped drives into HKCU registry.
