garethEds Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Sounds a bit funny - but I'm looking for an old friend of mine. Four of us lived together in University. His name is David McIlveen and he was from West Derby, Liverpool. He had two brothers one of which was called Jonathan. In 1999/2000 he married a girl called Jenny The three of us who lived with him have not seen him since around that time - almost 14 years ago. Here is a picture of the 4 of us... Dave is the one in the blue jeans. I think his missus Jenny was a school teacher. His Dad was definitely a probation officer in the Liverpool area. Cheers everyone
Alkaline Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I think he is on here but this is 10 years old now and you have to pay to get an address. David Mcilveen in Liverpool - People Directory - 192.com 1
garethEds Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 @Alkaline - Yes I saw that but the information is quite old. No better thing than word of mouth. A lot better than using a PC lol.

I was just about to say using something like the electoral roll but the one I found was via the 192 website : New Electoral Roll 2013 - 2014 - Electoral Register - Voters Roll UK - 192.com That's me out then !
witch Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I presume you have tried Friends Reunited, Facebook, Twitter and Linked-in?

abillybob Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Errrm maybe I'm being a bit OTT here but shouldn't we ask for explanation why he want's to find him first..... he could be plotting something nasty
cpjitservices Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Google throws loads of results but I don't know exactly who/what I'm looking for.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 He doesn't appear to be on facebook. Unless he's part of the Northern Ireland assembly?
garethEds Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) Errrm maybe I'm being a bit OTT here but shouldn't we ask for explanation why he want's to find him first..... he could be plotting something nasty Good point there - you are being a bit OTT. I assure you all good intentions. SImply we are trying to find him to to have a reunion with our wives and kids. Three of us are sorted - Dave is MIA. Edited May 20, 2014 by garethedmondson Corrected spelling just to shut people up :-)
garethEds Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Is this his brother Jonathan? Jonathan Mcilveen | Business Law | Cobleys LLP Solicitors Liverpool Bugger me - that's his brother. eMail sent. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

garethEds Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Yes it would be thank you. I was on my phone and typing at the same time. Keep your hat on. If you are on a roll watch you don't fall off your broomstick. I don't teach English ;-) 1
witch Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) Hee hee:) Only mucking about! My hat doesn't fall off BTW, even when I do fancy broomstick flying Edited May 20, 2014 by witch 1
garethEds Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Well - I wrote to his brother (as discovered on here) - but despite the mail not bouncing back he has not had the politeness to mail back. There is hopefully a good reason for this - but we've come to the decision that Dave doesn't want to be found. Gutted. Thanks everyone for your help with this Gareth
witch Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I'd ring him, write to him or even go and see him if you can. What have you got to lose? There is a chance he didn't get the email - an over officious secretary might have removed it - you never know. I really would give it another go 1
laserblazer Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Use your brain Gareth. He's a solicitor. He's not going to write to you unless you cough up £20, or whatever the going rate is now? 1

tech_guy Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 A colleague here had a similar exercise last year - uni reunion, tracking long lost friends down, etc. He could find all his friends except one - just came up blank with everything, until we did a search for him and found a story on a newspaper website that revealed he was currently enjoying an extended holiday at her majesty's pleasure - whoops!
tech_guy Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 If you do a Google search for Jenny McIlveen you get some possible matches - FaceBook, etc - might be worth following up.
