For the first time, I can book flights during term time and this means I take advantage of cheaper flights with Ryanair out of Birmingham. I've just booked some flights and was surprised to see that you can now take a second, smaller bag into the cabin. O'Leary must be getting soft in his old age!

really? My mrs and I were lucky to take 1 bag between us on the overhead, because of the fact that we got the tickets together! Mind you, this was in 2008!

It does say that they can only take 90 bags in the overhead lockers, the rest go in the hold (free of charge).

Recently flew to Tenerife with Ryanair. They have a little frame that if your two bags fit into, you can take them onboard. One standard cabin size and one large handbag size. They have the option to put some of it in the hold, but that didn't happen on our flight which was nearly full.

I booked some tickets from them last night. Their new website is a massive improvement! They still try to fleece every penny possible from you but it's a lot more transparent and modern looking now.

The aircraft they use it just a bog standard Boeing 737. They are used all over the show so there should be enough physical space for the bags,

Yeah Ryanair seem to be far more reasonable these days over baggage and it's far easier to dodge many of the charges

Beware their latest new thing - if you don't book an allocated seat (€5 or €10 depending on the flight I think) you can't check in until 7 days before the flight.

 

So if you go away for 7 nights (which is 8 days) you're potentially going to need to check in and print the boarding card while you're away.

We had to do this in the airport, no printers anywhere near us. I think the time scale was less than 7 days though.

Also remember to print out in-advance or that is £10 or so fee (maybe that was €10) but I noticed that when I flew with them the other month. Also if your going to Latvia with them you have to pay to get OUT of Lativa as they refused to include the fee's in the ticket price so they have a check in desk and then a special payments window to pay a small fee to leave the country. Ryanair don't tellyou that in advance so first I knew of this fee was when I landed and saw a poster and was hmmm I'll sort when I fly back.
