daneil16 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Morning People, Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using "Printing Monitor" software? One that shows you a small JPEG of what has been printed, file name or username would be great so we can track the student who has printed it. Any ideas greatly received. Thanks
synaesthesia Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Papercut here. No jpegs but with full file descriptions, paths etc there's no need
Little-Miss Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Papercut here too.....have become obsessed with watching the list of things being printed.
Gibson335 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Isn't Papercut capable of producing a PDF of every print job? Or did I dream that?
6Foot2 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 You can enable an option in PaperCut that will give you a thumbnail of what has been printed. I can't remember how this works since moving to another print management solution [that does not have this facility]
daneil16 Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Unanimous and decided!!!!! Thanks for the input guys and gals, as so many of you have recommended this I will try it out. Keep up the good work
fiza Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Isn't Papercut capable of producing a PDF of every print job? Or did I dream that? Yes it is. Its called the archive function. Obviously does take up space so make sure you point it to a location with loads of space or remember to delete stuff occasionally. We use the archive function for student printers. Works really well.
Big_Ted Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 This should help Chapter22.Print Archiving (viewing and content capture)
Edu-IT Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 PaperCut here too. Just be careful who you archive in terms of confidential printing etc.
daneil16 Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Archive function will be handy. As students regularly print things they shouldn't, will provide great evidence when parents come in to complain their son/daughter has been FRAMED for this!!! lol
