lazy post - Tablets

Can anyone recommend a solution that would allow the kids to pick up a device ( no logon, that takes time!) and can browse the internet? . Some sort of MDM or configuration tool to lock them down would be ideal but not essential.

 

Apologies for the lazy post but I know some of you will have the done the relevant legwork and will have found top notch solutions!

Guess a lot of that still stems from what you want to do on them, and at what price? If it's "just" browse internet, any tablets really.

 

MDM wise apple configurator (or now renamed) will allow simple lockdowns. No need for accounts setup if you're not downloading apps etc.

Ideally if I could limit it to just browsing the internet it means I don't have to faff around with finding/deploying/buying/maintaining software and it helps clarify the exact use of the devices.

I think these learnpads are supposed to be easy. otherwise you could get windows tablets setup a non domain standard user and in the future you could domain etc..

if you use iPads and apple configurator you can lock them to a single app, so whether that is iBooks for library iPads or Safari for the scenario you mentioned. That's easily configurable and will completely lock the device down until you reconnect it to apple configurator.
