Hi everyone,

 

Have you heard of "Shape the Future"?

 

It's a Microsoft program that basically means that we can sell you an OS for £1 when you buy new kit thus making the price of hardware STACKS cheaper.

 

The purchasing establishment must be eligible for Shape the Future scheme so only preschool, primary / Secondary / FE / Academies (K12) 5 -19 year olds. Establishment must have minimum 50% public funding – ie not for private schools.

 

Millgate & Lenovo have teamed up to bring you a wide range of desktops, laptops, tablets and other items at a very good price.

 

This mean that you can buy a higher spec machine than you thought or simply buy more units! STRETCH that budget

Is this only on new kit? I guess it doesnt apply to refurb equipment if it comes with a refurb license.

Dell already are, got some laptops from them about 3 weeks ago at a very good price because of this, just need to speak to your your account manager, was no mention of it on our premier account.

Bugger indeed. A couple of companies provided me with quotes for computers with the Shape the Future licensing.

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well.

 

We have partnered with Lenovo on this BUT we can offer Shape the Future on a range of vendors. Lenovo, Dell, Samsung, Acer, Asus, Toshiba & Fujitsu.

 

It applies to new PCs that the school buy for school use.

 

If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask any questions you have. We need to make sure that you qualify because Microsoft are checking every order

Classroom based, I'm awaiting imminent delivery of some machines that qualified for this discount.

 

For reference: a normal OEM sticker is about £60, so you're saving that. For a room of 30 machines, you're saving nearly £2k simply because Microsoft are being nice about these things at the moment. Has made me look very good here recently

I was under the impression most schools had Win Enterprise so don't need to buy the OS as we'll just image over it anyway?

Is this more uncommon than I suspected? I know the primary school I did 6 months at had per-machine OS licensing but that was because they only had ~50 machines that had been bought in dribs and drabs.

An EES is an upgrade license so you need to buy a machine with some kind of OS on there. This scheme should make each unit around £50 ish cheaper

'tis true - we've got machines on the way from Novatech under this scheme. Saved a small fortune.
