Smed Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Hi all, we have an Action for Children worker who comes into school and remotes into her works computer using Citrix, when we were on netsweeper it worked fine, now we have moved over to lightspeed its not.... Ive added the URL to the filter and it will allow her to connect, but as soon as she tries to run an application, citrix refuses the connection and gets timed out... anybody else having issues? any recommendations?
MatthewL Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Is there anything getting blocked as Citrixdoes have ports like 2598 and 1494 (think these are right) that it uses. 1
dhicks Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Ive added the URL to the filter and it will allow her to connect, but as soon as she tries to run an application, citrix refuses the connection and gets timed out... There's a check-box somewhere in Lightspeed's settings to enable / disable filtering of peer-to-peer traffic, with filtering enabled by default. If you disable that it might solve the problem - there's no indication of what ports / protocols Lightspeed is actually filtering there, it might be affecting Citrix's connection. 1

It should then be allowed through as no rules will be applied to it. This is not a filtering allow all rule but an internal ignore rule that's in a different place Dave 2
dhicks Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 do an internal ignore rule for the specific IP address of that machine. It should then be allowed through as no rules will be applied to it. This is not a filtering allow all rule but an internal ignore rule that's in a different place I'm sure this end-user is trustworthy and so on, but that solution does remove all web filtering for their machine. 1
Smed Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Thanks for all your replies MatthewL i wouldn't of thought it would be a port issue, as it worked fine before we changed to lightspeed (and only the filtering has changed) ...but i may ring OCL and ask them... dhicks i looked for a peer2peer section in the lightspeed rocket and could only see the one in general, and that was disabled (by default) SchoolsBroadband ill look into adding her ip into the ignore rule, if it does take all the filtering off ill have to perhaps look into another way...also shes not in school everyday so after the default 8 days her ip would get changed, and i don't really want to give her laptop a static as she works in various schools... thanks again...
dhicks Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 also shes not in school everyday so after the default 8 days her ip would get changed, and i don't really want to give her laptop a static as she works in various schools... A DHCP reservation would sort that - her machine would still get an IP address via DHCP, it would just alway gets the same address.
