tech_guy Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Hey, anyone remember Max Headroom? I used to think it was brilliant. They used to show ace pop videos on that show.
laserblazer Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I still have an Atari development tape for Space Invaders that runs on the Commodore Pet which was Atari's development engine. It was given to me by Atari in around 1984.
tech_guy Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 My wife would kill me - I've two original 1981 space invader coin-op machines in the garage along with every single console made since 1985 in the loft.....she hates me. :-)
SpuffMonkey Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I still have an Atari development tape for Space Invaders that runs on the Commodore Pet which was Atari's development engine. It was given to me by Atari in around 1984. Had shares in a PET in 1980 - when it was aREALLY expensive piece of kit - Space Invaders wasted a lot of time and we wrote a Glaxians clone for ot too. We wrote a versionof Spacies that ran on a teletype machine linked to the college mainframe - a frame every 20 seconds or so...
PeterW Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Project X (shoot em up on amiga). Magic Pockets. Valhalla I,II,and III Xenon megablast Cool game and great sound to go with it. Magic Pockets was class as was Speedball 2 & Xenon megablast had fantastic sound for its time, soundtrack was by Bomb the Bass I think! Go on you know you want to Xenon 2 Download
Guest aliv25 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 The old debate of what was better the GameBoy (Nintendo) or GameGear (Sega) ... Discuss.
Elky Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Gameboy for track and field. I think it was track and field anyway. I mastered the art of putting a tea-towel on your finger then running your finger over the d-pad to gather spead!
BKGarry Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Lol No Colour All the way and Sonic, much better than mario
mattx Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Gameboy - battery life was excellent. Don't forget the Atari Lynx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(console) A good bit of kit, shame the battery life was shocking......
mattx Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I've got one of these too: http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Grandstand/Astro.htm Shame I have not got the box though....
tech_guy Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 I've got one of these too: http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Grandstand/Astro.htm Shame I have not got the box though.... Yikes I so wanted one of those back in 1981. They had one as a prize on TISWAS one week and I think I sent about 50 postcard entries in. Sad or what!?
mattx Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 On a sad note tech_guy - this is the first eletronic game I owned: http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Mattel/Battlestar.htm Its a shame I don't have it now. What I can recall on owning it as a 8 year old was there no random aspect to it, after a while you could remember the sequence of the red 'blips' that would appear. Thats all they were, red 'blips' The brighter 'blip' at the bottom of the screen was your ship. It had very simple sounds too. Guess what I am currently doing a search on E-bay for ??? ;-)
Elky Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Double Dragon - used to love that game, especially the arcade machine!
HodgeHi Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I played a car one similar to that where you dodged the traffic. Can't remember who made it though. I think it was blue/red. Looks similar to a tomy one now but better graphics :-) I also had the Grandstand Console as well.
HodgeHi Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Chase HQ with the Humungous arrow saying you'll never catch this guy. And space harrier with the moving chair. First of its kind along with Manx TT. Me and my brothers tried to relive those times down the arcade witha copy of Space Harrier on the Mega drive and my moms dinig chair. One plays one moves the chair the same direction as the character goes. Great fun and slightly dangerous considering the violent jerks you sometimes got.
gwendes Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Anyone remember Barcode Battler? I wanted one so much and eventually found at a carboot sale. It was rubbish!
BKGarry Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 The first game i can remeber getting addicted to was PipeDream that someone had installed on a PC in primary school. Also Spent about a year and a half addicted to theme hospital.
HodgeHi Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Does anyone remember operation on the amiga. Man that was good. You had to diagnose the problem with the patient by poking around at his stomach "ooh, haa,ow,owww, ohh" the patient cried. So funny then you took them to theatre. It was what trauma centre should have been.
Guest aliv25 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Lol No Colour All the way and Sonic, much better than mario Sonic the hedgehog was and still is the boy! PeterW Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Does anyone remember operation on the amiga I lost more patients than I care to remember.
Bromcom_John Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Also Spent about a year and a half addicted to theme hospital. "Will a doctor please report to the Bloaty Head clinic, patient waiting!" ah, wonderful game.
