FN-GM Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I was having a conversation with another forum member and i mentioned back peas. The other member had no idea what i was meaning i thought i was strange . Someone a few weeks back from Manchester thought they was from the Caribbean. Its Lancashire food by the way. Do you actually know what black peas are?
mac_shinobi Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Am guessing something like the following : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_peas
FN-GM Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 yep thats them i take it you didn't know
CyberNerd Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 never heard of them, we don't get gravy in our chip shops down here either

FN-GM Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 never heard of them, we don't get gravy in our chip shops down here either My has a chip shop he sells loads of gravy its popular round here.
tech_guy Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I like to have a white pudding & chips supper when I go up to Edinburgh. My wife's Scottish and introduced me to it back in the eighties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding Can't get white pudding in Warwickshite.... :-(
FN-GM Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 The shops can buy it frozen but its not popular enough.
tech_guy Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I know :-( & it's got to be the real thing anyway. We found a shop selling it in Leeds once but it didn't taste the same.
FN-GM Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 Probably wouldn't but when you do up to Scotland it will taste better if you don't have it often.
CyberNerd Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 The thing that really bothers me when ever I go up north is that the pubs insist on spoiling what would otherwise be a really good pint by using sparklers - so even the southern beers end up tasting creamy like boddingtons!
russdev Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 welsh cakes is the thing I like as don't visit wales much and don't see or welsh rels very much means don't get them very often. But have just found out that sainsbury sell oreo biscuits.
mac_shinobi Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 yep thats them i take it you didn't know Nope - google is thine friend and n all that lol. No clue how anyone can eat any stuff like that including black pudding yucky
