Found this fascinating!...

 

The photo Microsoft used for the Windows XP default wallpaper is (mostly) untouched - Neowin (Courtesy of Neowin.net)

Microsoft did crop the original photo and boost the color of the green hills for its use as Windows XP wallpaper but aside from that the image looks just like the original photograph.

 

The crop I accept as the aspect ratio of the film (I wonder which type of film it was?) would not fit exactly, but once you start selectively boosting colour I don't think you can call it "untouched" any more.

 

Very nice photograph, don't understand the need to make false claims about it though - does it change anything?

I use this photo of my own as my wallpaper because of the similarity to the XP one:

 

 

I tweaked the saturation to emphasise the colours a bit but it's not far off the original, the key is a polarising filter (the original always looked over saturated in the hill to me, now explained by the fact they gave the green a good boost!)
