MatthewL Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Hi there, Anyone used one of these similar to the Vodafone sure signal one, any good reviews on them? I am living in a 2G area currently but there is a 4G mast nearby but a little too far away and I am having some issues. Having one of these would give my phones 3G in the house, what are your thoughts?
Edu-IT Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 As it's the only area you'll ever get signal, from what I've found.
Seb1780 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Anyone used one of these similar to the Vodafone sure signal one, any good reviews on them Not sure if this is the same thing, but I have an EE Signal Box at home and it has transformed our mobile usage. We used to have good Orange signal here but when they merged into EE they turned off the transmitter that served our house and we had real problems getting a signal. After several phone calls we were given the EE Signal Box FOC - it's brilliant. It does not "boost" the signal, rather it uses your ADSL broadband. Effectively it's a WiFi box and you are making a VoIP call when you use it. As we were already using WiFi in the house for internet services on our phones it hasn't really made a difference in that respect. In fact, now I come to think about it, selling them as a 3G solution is nonsense as you need broadband to use them and if you have broadband you don't need them for their 3G capabilities; unless you have broadband without WiFi!!!!!
MatthewL Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Because of the number of issues I've had using the mast finder and speaking to the technical team at EE I know where the nearest 3 masts are due to the issues I was having in certain areas. Also the first mast I ever saw was the back then Orange was on a track I use to bike a few hundred yards over the fields near the house. I also did work on a mobile data project when I was in NHS so had access to other tools at the time to enable this too. Bit sad but the issues I've had I have been on the ball and done my research.
MatthewL Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks Seb1780, the calls situation is one thing I wanted to solve along a list of issues.
Seb1780 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 How do you know where the EE mast is? 'Sitefinder' Mobile Phone Base Station Database
MatthewL Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Exactly although speaking to EE today its not quite up to date, shows locations but some of the data against them is wrong.
