Been asked to look at options for giving teachers tablets to record work, make assessments etc but not sure whats best option android or ipad? As far as I am aware (usual never get full details) it only wifi in school, no need for 3g. Options look like tablets running Windows 8 so they can have office on them, android with a free office app or ipads with something office like on it. We have a Ruckus WIFI system with a Server 2008 R2 server so could any of these connect to the mapped system drives etc or to the printers? Those who have this already, any to avoid, OS or make or office app wise?

Sorry, one more thing, would be nice if the preffered option was able to display things on the smartboard, i.e. teacher sat in class can write on tablet that then displays straight away on smartboard and can control smartboard PC as well maybe, think I've made myself clear?

Was asked what impact this would have on pupil learning but dont expect any answers for that bit! (cant see any great ones and I teach as well apart from teachers just like fancy kit, but getting them to use it is another matter altogether!)

@VeryPC_Colin_M Do you offer any hardware trials on your Windows tablets? We've got 10 Google Chrome units on trial beginning at the start of the new term so would be good to have a comparison.

Apologies to the OP... not wanting to hijack your thread.

Valium?

We are using galaxy tab3 at our primary, locked down to all hell using domobile applock and 2simple 2build a profile. My main issue with them is there are no survivor-esque cases for them yet.

Yes, they are also planning on the 2simple app also linked with some other assessment data collection software (dont know which as not been involved with that...as usual!).

But they also want an office app for when they are out on courses or need to make notes. Did suggest the free office apps for android...tbats when they asked me to check out Win 8 tablets with office included.
