NotSure Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Hi Everyone, I wonder if anybody could help me or point me in the right direction please, we currently have a Somoothwall UTM 1000 for Firewall, VPN and Web Filtering but the VPN is a little bit flakey and doesn't always work for some reason ??? Prior to Smoothwall being installed there was a Cisco ASA5505 doing everything and apparently there were no issues with the VPN at all, as we still have the device and it still has the licence for 25 con-current connections I would like to reinstate it but only as a VPN connection, any suggestions as how I would go about this please ???
JPElectron Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 You won't be able to do that - for ASA to work as the VPN endpoint it needs to be the default gateway (next hop out) to the Internet. You might look into using a server behind your Smoothwall UTM as the VPN endpoint instead, or fix the problem with the Smoothwall.
nicholab Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Have you considered using a pfsense box as the vpn end point?
FN-GM Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Are these Windows clients? Have a look at DirectAccess. Works well, the users don't even have to dial in its all automatic.
NotSure Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 It is Windows Clients that are connecting is DirectAccess straight forward to setup ??
