Hi Everyone,

I wonder if anybody could help me or point me in the right direction please, we currently have a Somoothwall UTM 1000 for Firewall, VPN and Web Filtering

but the VPN is a little bit flakey and doesn't always work for some reason ???

Prior to Smoothwall being installed there was a Cisco ASA5505 doing everything and apparently there were no issues with the VPN at all, as we still have the device

and it still has the licence for 25 con-current connections I would like to reinstate it but only as a VPN connection, any suggestions as how I would go about this please ???

You won't be able to do that - for ASA to work as the VPN endpoint it needs to be the default gateway (next hop out) to the Internet.

You might look into using a server behind your Smoothwall UTM as the VPN endpoint instead, or fix the problem with the Smoothwall.

Are these Windows clients? Have a look at DirectAccess. Works well, the users don't even have to dial in its all automatic.
