we are a fairly large academic institution in need of a captive portal/wireless NAC solution. currently using all cisco hardware and the built in captive portal sucks.

here is what we want our portal to do:

-guests can connect to the 'guest' wireless after registering with their phone number and receiving a random password via sms.

-students only have to register their devices once per semester, authenticating off of radius/AD credentials.

these seem to be industry standards at other universities, but i'm having a rough time finding what solution you guys are running. please make suggestions. our parent university had to custom code their own gimmick to do this.

thanks

DNS Redirector can do your first bullet point (collecting name, email, phone, and sending the SMS), not sure about the second - unless you're saying the password they get via SMS is what lets them on the second student SSID? or do they already know their radius/AD credential? You can captive portal them and authenticate to AD pretty easily, but radius takes a little more effort.
