Hi All,

Can anyone please pop over to Paramore | Paramore New Single 'Ain't It Fun' Available Now | Official and check weather your Anti Virus freaks out. Avast just said that their was an infection on that website. Although as it is the official website of the band I am surprised.

And what will you be replacing Avast! with? I've found it to be better than most, especially Sophos which caused us so much grief back in 2012.

1) McAfee - via my HSBC internet Banking

2) Kaspersky via my Barclays Internet Banking

3) F-Secure Safe via Virgin Media.

2) Kaspersky - Maybe. It was a decent AV solution the last time I used it. However, I haven't personally used their enterprise deployment and management console to give feedback on that part of it.

3) F-Secure - Good rep, but zero experience with it, so can't say.

The Which? magazine report this week ranks F-secure as a Best Buy

 

The others are ranked Kaspersky, McAfee, Avast in that order... but none of them is rated particularly well.

Yeah, he probably mentioned that. He'd rang to tell me about it at a really inconvenient time, so I probably wasn't giving him my full attention.

I use Bitdefender Free Edition here nowadays after ditching avast a while back. Kaspersky we use in work having just upgraded to v10 and I have used it before on my home machine and its very decent.

 

Avoid Norton/Mcafee or Symantec are the main rules I have when it comes to AV, ive been paid enough times to remove that junk from peoples computers, especially when they just bought a new PC from PCWorld/Tesco.

To be fair, VIPRE freaks out on the Aviva quote page warning about trojans so it is probably just poor website design.

I used to use F-Secure and it was OK. I wouldn't say it was a patch on ESET or Sophos, but it was OK.

 

I use MS Essentials at home now but i'm a very careful browser! My parents and my Wife use the 3 PC licence of ESET as they are a lot more click happy than I am!

Site is working fine for me but i'm using Mcafee.

 

You will find that AV is like cars and broadband, you will have those who have had good experience with some and bad experience with others. Always comes down to personal preference, in my experience I have had no issues from Kaspersky, Mcafee, Sophos and some other free ones like Essentials. Yet I seem to be the one of few casualties of Avast, which some people seem to really like.

Was a false alarm in the first place
