After getting bored with the amount of breaks the US shows have, the wife and I went in search of other shows to watch to fill the gaps :

Raising Hope - Absolutely love it. Has Garret Dillahunt (played Cromarty in Sarah Connor Chronicles), Martha Plimpton (one of the girls in the Goonies - what more do you need!) and Cloris Leachman (played the Grandma in Malcolm in the Middle). Fantastic comedy, well worth watching, many good references and nods.

The Following - Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy in an FBI chase drama that is actually very good. Still expecting him to burst in to Flashdance but that's just me :D

The Reign - Not my recommendation, blame this one on the wife. Something about Mary Queen of Scots, but with the usual American/Aussie actors who do their fake English accents

Orphan Black - Only watched the first episode, plays out so far a bit like Ringer was (Sarah Michelle Gellar playing two roles). Could be good, I'll give it a punt.

Some that just didn't make the cut

Vikings - Watched 35 seconds of it and turned it off. Some shows grab you, some just make me go in to a coma. It might be fantastic, but for me, the intro killed it off

The Crazy Ones - Robin Williams as a PR/marketing boss with Sarah Michelle Gellar (seeing a theme here) as his daughter. Wife described it as Robin Williams trying to be Mork 30 years on. It was just him doing his impressions and funny little skits, with a story loosely written around it. Funny in places, but it could get tiresome.

I just caught up on The Walking Dead. Watched seasons 1-3 back to back. Cant find season 4 from the beginning so cant watch it as its already on ep 10 on Fox.

I shall list some of my favourites (3 breaks in 1 hour, same as a UK show).

Bones

Hawaii Five-0

NCIS Los Angeles (Do not like the original one however)

Arrow

The blacklist

By breaks I meant lets stop airing for 2 weeks for Thanksgiving, then another 4 weeks for Christmas, then another 3 weeks because someone sneezed..... :p

Arrow definitely on the list but that was already on our list. These were new ones I hunted out to watch

Highly recommend Justified - Timothy Orphant as a sharp shooting US Deputy Marshall, brilliant show.

Also chuck in Rome, Fringe and House of Cards.

Watched Justified a bit, just couldn't get in to it. Was trying to find shows in first or second season to get in to, as we've had way too many "this is a good show, lets watch all 8 seasons this weekend" marathons!

Second Justified, love that show, weird seeing Olyphant in a setting other than Hitman though.. think I've just seen it too much ;)

At the minute my list of shows I've been watching is:

Almost Human

Castle

The Tomorrow People

White Collar

Dexter (Now finished)

Then the usual Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, yada yada.. you know the ones :p

I've been recommended Person of Interest and Revolution, so I'll be taking a look at them soon. Probably Agents of Shield at some point too.

We're watching Almost Human too, but I wouldn't recommend it yet, it's still too.....meh!

Person of Interest definitely. White Collar we scrapped after season 3 (haven't watched the latest season at all) - just got bored of it.

Just started watching Lilyhammer on Netflix. Looks promising.

Of course, nobody's mentioned Breaking Bad, but I take it you've watched that? An astonishing series.

yeah, we were after new or recently new series to watch rather than mammoth backlogs

I have to say I prefer watching back to back. I never remember to watch if its week by week. Even if I record them I usually wait until there are at least 6 episodes.

My girlfriend and I like watching Grimm

A cheesy premise but quite a lot of fun.

We watched the first season of that too, then by the second season got bored so canned that too. we're fickle people :p

Hawaii Five-0

Ah but which one? The original series was very good but I found the remake quite dire. CBS Action have been showing the originals (well the first four seasons). Sadly it finishes tomorrow. I do wish they would show the rest of them.

Of the new series that I started to watch on Freeview this year, (Helix, Falling Skies, Hostages, Longmire, Battlestar Galactica, The Tomorrow People and Salamander), I've given up on all of them except Longmire.

True Detective?

Bit slow to start but last Ep 4 (i think) just went mad!

Also Black Sails - pirates! Yarrrr! - made by Starrs who did Spartacus so some decent violence and 'adult' action. :)

or

Todd And The Book of Pure Evil is funny, purile but funny.
