Norphy Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, We have around 110 Promethean interactive whiteboards on site. Each PC with a board attached has ActivInspire installed on it. A teacher has recently asked if they can have a license key to use ActivInspire Pro on their personal PC. They say that the Personal edition doesn't have a feature that they want. Would our license cover this or would an additional license be required? Cheers
phillyrovers Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi Norphy, I have pasted an extract from the licence from ActivInspire v1.8 that will allow you to install ActivInspire professional on prep machines: (as you have 110 Promethean Interactive Whiteboards you have 110 single user licences.) 4.1 Single User License: The License granted hereunder permits the Software to be installed for use by You in accordance with the terms of this EULA on a single computer at the Licensee’s site. The Software will not be used on or transferred to another computer except that the Software may be transferred to an alternate computer if the original computer is not working. Installation of the Software for the purpose of preparatory work only, on one other computer outside the Licensee’s site is permitted. This means that you can have ActivInspire installed on a maximum 220 machines inside or outside the site, though the outside installations can only be used for prep work. Thank you 1

Sorry, brain failure. So I have 110 licenses. I can install the software on 110 computers with whiteboards plus 110 more. It doesn't matter who the other 110 belong to, just so long as I don't exceed that number? There's an ActivInspire 1.8 now? When did that come out?! Edited February 17, 2014 by Norphy
phillyrovers Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi Norphy, I cannot find the extract at the minute, but yes, you can install this on a machine that is not owned by the college off site. The idea is that teachers that are associated to the site can have ActivInspire installed on personal machines for preparatory use only. Inspire v1.8 was released last week and is currently available via "check for updates" or as a full download on Promethean Planet. 1

Does that mean we have 100 licenses from the old boards still to use and 100 licenses for the new boards? The old boards are no longer in use by anyone and have been broken down. phillyrovers Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi FN-GM, It is possible that you could have Inspire licences for the OLD boards, though it depends on the make and model, and the time of purchase. It would probably be best top contact Promethean Support with the purchase details so they can advise. Thank you
