e1 accessing historical attendance data for migration to new MIS

Hi Guys

We're working with a number of schools to migrate from e1 to Bromcom and struggling to get two bits of data from e1.

1. Pupil attendance data going back more than 1 year. Pearson have given us access to PI where we we access historical pupil attendance data for the last 12 months, this can be exported and imported to Bromcom. Any data over 12 months is not available using this option.

2. Staff absences. There is no field in the front end of e1 to export staff absence data.

Has anyone else had these issues? Any thoughts on how to get around it or should I just apply more pressure to Pearson to supply us with this data?

Thanks

Pants!

Aren't they obligated to provide the data to the school? Put more pressure on. If they are still a paying customer until date x - end of contract...

Also, as a goodwill gesture for leaving the market.

Bad form really. I can imagine other areas of Pearson sales suffering because of the way they let schools down on this front.

This is quite shocking to be honest, but when you consider they are trying to push everyone over to RM there is an interest to make it 'not easy'!

@nteeman If your schools are in Hackney, have you considered asking the Learning Trust legal to write you a strongly worded letter?

(Edit:grammar broken in drafting)

The boss being?

Aspen has an API available that is a fact. That API is available for third parties to tap into.

I'm not really sure how there is confusion. Perhaps PM me with details.

I'm not really sure why I'm defending them I not longer work for them. It is a mute issue anyway seeing as it is no longer available in the UK.

I'm reporting the facts objectively I have no need to defend, so unless there has been a recent strategic change there, as in the last 3 months, this is still the case :)

@nteeman - how are you getting on?

Any more joy. I've heard from some other people lately who are struggling to get access to data from hosted E1 too.

Surely there is some onus on them to help provide it, plus a legal bearing based on DPA or some such...?

As we all know DPA doesn't specify how that data should be given to the owner... could be an element to the problem!

We are moving from e1 and are being told that we can only export what we can access via our user interface which is very limiting and not very helpful...

This is contrary to what was quoted in their original FAQs when the withdrawal was announced to 'customers' in September 2013:

"If we want our data back from either e1 or Integris how will it all be made available to us?Your data is your data, and we will pass this back to you in a format that is suitable to you."

Then give them a ring and tell them they are breaking the law. The MUST supply you with every byte of data you store in your MIS currently.
