Apple VPP - moving to MDM

Hi has anyone transferred from deploying apps using VPP codes in Configurator to distributing from MDM such as Meraki?

 

We already have approx. 60 iPads in school and are about to get another 60, with the ability to distribute over the cloud I think its now time to make the jump.

 

Can you exchange your codes to ones that work through MDM or do you have to buy again?

 

anyone have any experience in this, any tip appreciated
