unmode Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I wonder if someone can give me some advice. We have multiple sites, some of which are not connected to our main LAN. We also have some staff working from home using a mixture of Mac OSX and Windows. Can anyone recommend software that will allow us to remote control computers in this situation for support? My ideal solution would be something like LogMeIn, but that starts to get expensive very quickly. We have a team of technicians so it needs to be something that is centrally managable, ideally browser based -- although this is not essential -- and requires minimal input from the user's end. Thanks in advance.
penfold_99 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I highly recommend teamviewer, it's and upfront cost and a small renewal year for updates. It works out on a per technician / concurrent channel pricing model. So if you had 5 techs and one ever had 2 remoting in its pretty cheap compared to RemoteAssist over 12 months.

chazzy2501 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 as long as the PCs have Internet access you could use the built in Windows Remote Assistance. This does require a user at the other end. Dunno about the macs though.

chazzy2501 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Yes, I read "LAN" as "Domain" so thought they were unmanaged. I have that GPO setup so I can initiate the session it was @AngryTechnician post. Help users over the phone with Unsolicited Remote Assistance | The Angry Technician
