AIOMG Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hello, I'm new here and new to SIMS. I'm trying to figure out whether there's a way of running a report in lesson monitor that will tell me which student are absent on a particlar lesson on a particular day. Eg, we have a lot of students who truant after lunch when they've got their AM and PM marks, and apart from calling up a full register report and manually looking for the N's in lesson 4/5 I can't figure out how to do it! Can anyone help?
fiza Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hopefully someone like @vikpaw would be able to help
CAM Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I don't have the SIMS menu at hand so names may vary; you can use the built-in Lesson Monitor Reports to look up students with a particular code or compare one column versus another in Attendance. I think the menu route is: Reports - Lesson Monitor - Selected Students - Students with Chosen Code. Usually the top half of the menu is AM/PM Sessions and the lower half Lesson Marks.
PhilNeal Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Have you tried using the home page widgets that display live information? You can chose which groups to look at - house, tutor, year, whole school.
CarpeDiem Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Reports | Lesson Monitor | Module Reports | Registers with Missing Marks Report? Can filter by cohort and lesson? Ditto PhilNeal's post above - if it is a reactive situation, check your widget.
vikpaw Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Definitely exists but can't remember name, attendance by code??, and there is one that lets you isolate exactly which period to monitor, or a range.
ICTLady Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Resource 19110 on supportnet is a handbook with descriptions of all of the lesson monitor reports. Quite useful to have to hand so you don't spend ages looking for the one that does what you need.
vikpaw Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 You could use from lesson monitor | selected pupil reports | compare marks by column, as that allows you to select the periods to compare, you could compare am to the period in question. If the pm lesson period is linked to the pm session attendance, and you want to see who is absent and spot trends, you should just be able to run a simple pm session report. For example, maybe something like Pupil Analysis by AM/PM report. Looking at the pm session should tell you if they skipped the link lesson..
AIOMG Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Thanks guys, Its the year 10's and 11's that I'm looking at, our school day is structured like this Lesson 1 - AM mark is linked to this lesson Lesson 2, Lesson 3, Tutor group - PM mark is linked to this session Lesson 4, Lunch Lesson 5. It seems that some students are getting their PM mark but not going to lessons 4 & 5. I'm looking for a report that shows me how to pin point who is doing this
BKGarry Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 How about the Routine Focus > Lesson Monitor > Deal with unexplained absences this screen can be printed as a report, but it will show up all session and lessons for the day with an N but you can see if someone has an N for just one or 2 lessons. Hope that helps
