Questions for the Papercut Gurus

Morning,

 

I am playing around with Papercut Web print and I cannot find where I can add file extensions as it will only accept .PDFs at the moment, anyone know where they are hiding?

 

Also wondering if anyone has successfully set up Papercut to be accessed outside their LAN. This is something I am not too hot on and would like the staff and pupils to access the Papercut/Print server externally to upload their jobs?

You'll need to install Office on the server in order to support printing of additional (Office) filetypes

Hi,

 

Its much the same as accessing an internal website from outside. As long as the correct ports are open you should be fine. Obviously there are risks with exposing any internal site externally.

Re publishing externally, it would be best if you have a public certificate available to only open access via https (Papercut port 9192 default) Another little trick is to put IIS on the papercut server, and put a site on port 80/443 that redirects new connection to the port 9192(or 9191 if you want to be insecure) Altho papercuts docs say you can move the service to 80/443 there are a lot of things inter dependant and it seems like too much of a ball ache to have to remember them every time you add a new print server etc.

Open the ports and forward them through. Get your self a SSL certificate if you want and away you go.
