ashdent93 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 One of the Smart Interactive Boards in the Foundation stage has a 'loose' VGA port. It looks as if it has been caught and yanked out, the port itself seems to have gone up into the casing or the casing has moved down meaning you can not get the VGA to USB lead in and therefore the board is not interactive. Will th board need to be taken down and apart or is there a way to do it whilst on the wall? Thanks,
ashdent93 Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Or will the board need to be replaced?
plexer Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It sounds like you're going to have to take it off the wall to do a complete assessment and decide if you can repair it yourself alternatively get someone in to look at it. Ben
Michael Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It sounds like one of Smart's all in one boards, with a small unit at the bottom. You should be able to take this off the wall and have a look inside. It's the USB cable which provides the interactivity and USB audio and the VGA just visual. If the visual side of things works (despite it being lose), I'd probably just leave it alone.
Watty08 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) If it is an all in one solution where the vga plugs in, could you look at running a seperate VGA cable the projector as a work around. Sorry if this sounds condesending but just want to make sure. Its not an old Smart board with a serial connector instead of usb. Edited January 20, 2014 by Watty08
Educare_AV Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 If you are referring to the old 500 series smart boards with the black frame, then the circuit boards are still available and cost around £100 from memory. They take two minutes to swap out.
