Hi everybody

We are having our interactive whiteboards and projectors replaced in the Feb half term and I am wondering about how to dispose of the old stuff.

I know there are companies that will collect but does anyone know if there is a resale value on these items?

We have Series 5 Smartboards which are almost 9 years old but still function, and the projectors are NEC NP215’s - these are just over 3 years old. We also have some NEC VT37 projectors leftover from a previous upgrade - these are about 9 years old.

I have looked on eBay and there are some on there - don’t know how they sell though.

Has anyone else tried this route?

Thanks

Thanks :)

Yes, we can sometimes buy old kit (depending on what it is). Unfortunately though, this doesn't really have any value.

I'd recommend getting someone to dispose of it FOC for you. I can arrange this if you wish?

I have 14 Netgeat WNDAP350 WAPS and one controller going if you can buy it? @Millgate

I'll ask around for you but with these things being so cheap to buy new, they aren't likely to have any resale value :(

It's generally high HP & Cisco kit that holds it's value.

We started selling stuff on ebay, old laptops, PC's, duff batteries ( yes!! DUFF! ) , mobile phones, DVRs , TV. Etc..

Started just before Christmas and raised £650, seller restrictions make it a pain at the moment as the high value stuff we can only sell one a month. But I think we could generate 2K on stuff we have stored for ages.

Takes a bit of time to do but worth it.

I heard somewhere that you need to take a bit of care selling school equipment because VAT was not put on the original sale. That said, I doubt there would be a problem with small quantities.

No it's not that VAT wasn't put on the original sale, it's a case of if you are VAT registered and claimed the VAT back if you then sell the equipment on you have to charge VAT on the re-sale value and pay that back to the taxman.
