Gongalong Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi folks, I've spotted that some of our APs are set to US region, yet they seem to be working (as best we can tell with our network!). Does switching between UK and US region on an AP actually have any practical effect? TIA
localzuk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Yes, it does. The USA has a different range of frequencies allowed to be used (802.11bgn 1-11 in the US, 1-13 in the UK; 802.11an 120/124/128 not allowed in the USA, but are in the UK, 149-165 not allowed in general use in the UK etc...). 2

They'll work, but you won't be able to use all the frequencies. Usually, APs will work on channels 1, 7 and 13 in the UK but will work on 1 5 and 11 on a US structure, so you'll potentially get more interference. But, it works well enough for the USA! 1
