Hi,

I'm ready to buy some Windoze tablets. Need to run Either Win7 Pro or Win8(.1) Pro on them.

Anyone know which devices I can either upgrade or downgrade. RT can't be wiped can it? UEFI bios issue?

I need to put a custom windows image on them from WDS.

Preferably £500 or less.

Any help appreciated :)

Cheers

We've just bought some Dell Venue 8 tablets and they are running 8.1 but the equivalent to the Home Edition of Windows 7. This means you can't join a domain but can run Windows programs, which is what our Science department are doing (Data Harvest, Picoscope etc). They were about £190 and so far we have been pretty impressed - it also comes with Office 2013.

They do an 11" version which runs can run 8.1 Pro and comes with different processor options. The Atom version is £459.00

Cheers

Dell Venue is quite good! I have had a play with one runs very well!! :) I know back in the day I had an Asus Smart Tab ME4000C (I think is the model number) and with my Network Manager at my last school we put a new Windows 8 Enterprise onto it and it worked perfectly fine an deleted all the bloatware! So I know these particular tablets can be reimaged and made to work for a domain!

Im waiting on delivery of the Dell Venue - the hardware is the same between the standard and pro editions. 8 pro is available from EES so I cant see why is cant be upgraded. I did see someone on here did the upgrade on a Win8 tab using a usb host adaptor on a different tab - but the process should be the same.
