office 365 Veeam smtp settings

Hi I am trying to configure our veeam backup server to send me info about the backup jobs and errors etc. I am having problems with configuring office365 and veeam. I just cant get it to communicate and work.

 

Does anybody have this working with office365 and veeam smtp?

I setup a local smtp server on one of our servers and redirect from office 365 through that.

I have tried to do this however when I put the ip address in the field it gets rejected. I have also put smtp.servername, is this correct?

Not exactly sure on veeem but hopefully it will have an option for user authentication to SMTP.

 

create an account in 365.

 

you will need the name of your outlook365 server ( do an mx lookup for your domain to find it. )

 

In the veeme e-mail settings , enter the server name you just found and the username and password you just created.

 

That should do it so long as veeam has the required settings.

You can also just setup a temporary gmail account for this. Its what I have done in the past.

As long as the veeam client supports the required encryption for O365 a lot don't and expect to use un-authenticated SMTP.
