[ipad] Backing Up Shared iPads

Hi chaps,

 

How are you backing up your trolley based iPads?

 

We're finding backing up through Apple Configurator is slow and inconvenient, particularly when students have saved large video files on their iPads. Saving work externally to a service like Google Drive or folder isn't great when editing large number of files and isn't really a backup solution.

 

How are you managing it?

We also use Apple Configurator but we only have 16 iPads so it's not so bad to manage. We copy any photos/videos off using the Simple Transfer app and then it's deleted from the device to free up space for the next class.

App called iExplorer for Mac. We have 49 iPads, so it takes some time...

We don't really have any other work to take off the iPads. If we're making an iMovie then we'll make sure each group uses the same iPad each lesson until they are finished and then export it to the camera roll. We don't use them for word processing/publishing as we have a brand new ICT suite and laptops for that type of thing.

 

We have over 100 apps on each iPad, split into different curriculum folders but the vast majority of apps do not need us to export anything.
