We've been using these little wall mount ones:

Vison Techconnect Stereo Amplifier V2 (TC2-AMP2) - www.misco.co.uk

They take up much less room, and don't have as many complicated controls on. You can wire up two more inputs on the back to an av patch panel. It takes about 10-20 mins to install these.

The other option we use is powered speakers, I prefer these, but they take more effort to install, as they need to be cabled in.

ACTIVE30-SLV - PULSE - SPEAKERS, 5" 30W ACTIVE SILVER | CPC

or

ACTIVE40PRO-BK - PULSE - ACTIVE SPEAKERS, 40W RMS, BLACK | CPC

All options cost a similar amount, so it depends on how much work is involved.

These are awesome and cheap. I've had a whopping pair of s/h JBLs connected to one of these and the sound was flawless- loud too! My summer party rig for the house was an old hifi speaker (3ft tall, £5 from the car boot), one of these amps screwed on to the top, and my phone for the music source. These are nice to mount under or on top of a desk and v reliable too.
