Andie Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Has anyone had this issue with the printout (see attached photos) from a Samsung CLP-620ND Colour laser (out of warranty)? We are using original toner and there are no error messages or red lights on the printer display. I have taken all of the toners out and replaced them, but still no good. There is nothing in the manuals or menus for aligning the heads or anything similar. Samsung just said to clean the printer, but it isn't dirty and the printout isn't smudged - it's out of line. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas or has fixed this exact issue.....
Oaktech Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 One moment... I'll look this up as we've had this on ours... 1
Oaktech Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Ok, Our knowledge base says, turn off printer, remove toners, switch on with toners missing untill it stops whirring and sits at an error on screen. Turn it off and reinsert all toner carts, turn on printer, wait for it to do all the things it wants to do untill it says ready, turn it off and back on again, wait for it to come back up to ready. Go into the menu, go to colour, go to auto reg and then run the auto reg. then try a test print. The rationale behind this is to force a cart alignment and calibration (twice to be on the safe side,) then to force a colour registration. 1

Will give it a go in five minutes when the room is free and let you know.
difinity Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 There is a secret tech menu to the 620s I don't know if there is an alignment setting in it though. menu, back, left, right,ok,stop, menu 1
Andie Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 OK, thanks. Will give it a go in five minutes when the room is free and let you know. Sadly, this didn't work. Tried whole sequence twice as wasn't sure I hadn't waited long enough for printer to whirr through things the first time. But still no good.
Oaktech Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Ok, I'll have a look at one of ours and see if there is anything else I can see.
Oaktech Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I'm pretty sure that it's the registration that is out here... it might be worth running that a few more times. Failing that, the tech menu that difinity described has methods of moving the print around the page manually. I've attached a chunk of the service manual to this post which might help. 5.Troubleshooting.pdf 1
Andie Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks, folks. I did have a dig around in the Tech Menu. Managed to print the Manual Registration page, which seems to show that the colours are out of line. It looks like you can manually put the colours back into line, but I found it rather confusing to work out what offset was needed. Now I have the manual from @Oaktech, I'll check this out a bit more. Otherwise it's a call to an engineer. Edited December 4, 2013 by Andie
Andie Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Engineer called But thanks for all your help. At least I know I tried what I could.
GJH-Perth Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Feb 2016 - Just had this same problem. The Answer was to change from the Samsung Driver to the PCL driver - all then worked (as if by magic)

Sorry to necromance such a long dead thread.... just wanted to say, thanks, this method just fixed a problem with an elderly CLP-680! 1
