sonofsanta Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Don't say that about Billy Ray! You'll break his heart. Al Al... I just don't think [you] understand.
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 What, wait a minute - did you say you had to re-fillm a video? I thought these were all done in one take? They nearly all are, but we do get the occasional mess up that just ruins the video, so we have to start again. This happens maybe once or so during the month of a competition. In this instance, I was shaking the chassis to mix up the names when a load of tickets flew out the top and in my surprise I used a mild swear word. I carried on for about 2 seconds thinking "it's okay, I'll bleep it out", but then I did a much worse swear word as a I mentally castigated myself for the first transgression. Fearing a potty mouthed snowball of vernacular expletives would ensue if we continued, I just decided to quit there and start again. It would probably have been an amusing video, but not really in keeping for the image of a company supplying to all tiers of education. Al
X-13 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 but not really in keeping for the image of a company supplying to all tiers of education. Al That reminds me... I'm still waiting on an email from Tom or Andy [not sure who]. Go poke 'em.
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Al... I just don't think [you] understand. I'm so upset about it all that might blow up and kill this land. Where would that leave us eh? Al
sparkeh Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 not really in keeping for the image of a company supplying to all tiers of education. And not in keeping with your name, Very Polite Computers...that's what it stands for right?
sparkeh Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I'm so upset about it all that might blow up and kill this land. Man ......
X-13 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 And not in keeping with your name, Very Polite Computers...that's what it stands for right? Nah, it's Very Precise Calculators.
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Man ...... ...wait.... what? - ahhh sheesh, I'm a right cloth eared doofus, and I clearly have been for about 20 years. Al EDIT - I'm not changing the way I sing it (sure, I sing that song. So what?), I like my version better. Edited December 11, 2013 by VeryPC
X-13 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 ...wait.... what? About 4.3 if you ignore the elephant.
sparkeh Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 ...wait.... what? The lyric is "He might blow up and kill this man"
sonofsanta Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Oh the temptation for some casual racial steretyping around terrorists and various cultural incarnations of Billy Ray Cyrus. I will be the bigger man and resist.
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) The lyric is "He might blow up and kill this man" Yeah, I get that now. Thanks for bursting my bubble and pulling the foundations upon which my world is built out from under me and waking me up smelling of coffee gathering moss on a rainy day (makes my soul, makes my soul, trip trip trip away-ay-ay). Al Edited December 11, 2013 by VeryPC
StevieM Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 might blow up and kill this land. The lyric is "He might blow up and kill this man" @VeryPC Al obviously has genocidal rather than suicidal tendencies.
sparkeh Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (makes my soul, makes my soul, trip trip away-ay-ay). Joke or unfortunate mistake? I just can't tell anymore!
sonofsanta Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 If we're going to go down the route of mnishead song lyrics, I am required by statute to post this video by Adam Buxton (off of Adam & Joe). 2
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Joke or unfortunate mistake? I just can't tell anymore! I don't know what's going on!!!!! seriously - what's going on? Al
sparkeh Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (makes my soul, makes my soul, trip trip trip away-ay-ay). Makes my soul, makes my soul drip, drip, drip away 1
VeryPC Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Makes my soul, makes my soul drip, drip, drip away awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww man! "Trip away" really makes sense though! "Drip away"??? what? Al
sonofsanta Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww man! "Trip away" really makes sense though! "Drip away"??? what? Al Rainy day? Dripping? Surely you can see the connection! Anyway, hometime for me - just been hanging around to upgrade our internet connection, 100mbps is such a nice round number 1
VeryPC Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Rainy day? Dripping? Surely you can see the connection! Anyway, hometime for me - just been hanging around to upgrade our internet connection, 100mbps is such a nice round number Yeah I see the liquid phase of matter based behaviour reference sense in it, but I thought she was all delighted by the sunshine on her rainy day making her soul trip away-ay-ay, whereas drip away sounds a bit depressing, like her lifeforce is running out in a bad sci-fi where they legitimise the concept of life having a quantifiable and finite value akin to energy rather than being a purely abstract concept with no physical basis. Thank what I think. Al 1

Thank what I think. Al I hereby express an appropriate level of gratitude for your thoughts, as instructed. They were goodly thoughts. (Seriously, though. Have you broken your fingers or something? Are you just mashing the keyboard wildly and hoping the right words come out? Are you wearing a muumuu right now?) 2
sparkeh Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Guess who we haven't heard from this Christmas? That's right, Mr Hankey!
sparkeh Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 (Seriously, though. Have you broken your fingers or something? Are you just mashing the keyboard wildly and hoping the right words come out? Are you wearing a muumuu right now?) We think it, @sonofsanta says it. 1
sonofsanta Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 We think it, @sonofsanta says it. This is how I so often upset people. One day I will learn to filter my thoughts before they reach my fingers. That day has not yet arrived. Disclaimer, for now and ever forth: I never mean any offence. I am merely incompotent at judging social situations and restraining my oft-inappropriate sense of humour accordingly. 1
StevieM Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww man! "Trip away" really makes sense though! "Drip away"??? what? Al Gotta say, I'm with @VeryPC Al on this one. I've always thought of it as 'trip' as opposed to 'drip'. I mean, let's face it, it was around the time when everyone was discovering acid again and it was trendy to make casual drug-related double entendres. Edit: BTW @sonofsanta - That Songs of Praise video had me crying with laughter. Edited December 12, 2013 by StevieM 2
